Nadia De Leon

Nadia is a graduate student in Folk lore and Women’s Studies. She holds an Honors B.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts Education with emphasis in Dance from WKU. She completed a thesis titled Belly Dance as a Means of Dance Therapy for Survivors of Sexual Assault, and has continued teaching Women’s Empowerment Belly Dance. She also developed Raices - Identity in Motion, a Hispanic arts &  culture program. She is a certified fitness instructor and an experienced teacher, choreographer, and performer in Middle-Eastern and Latin dance forms. She is also engaged in dance ethnology and arts management. She is a 2006 recipient of the Art Meet Activism Grant an a 2009  recipient of the Artist  Enhancement Grant from the Kentucky Foundation for Women.
